I built this because I was tired of spending my whole Saturday morning trying to figure out where to go.
I'm Cathleen, a Michigan-based entrepreneur and the founder of Day Trip Anywhere. A while back I noticed that every weekend I'd open my phone, type something like “things to do near Detroit,” and end up buried in listicles, sponsored ads, and Reddit threads from 2019. An hour later I'd give up and stay home. The trip planning wasn't the fun part — it was the obstacle.
So I built the tool I wished existed. You tell Day Trip Anywhere what you're into, how far you're willing to drive, and what kind of budget you're working with — and it hands you somewhere to go. No endless scrolling, no decision paralysis. Just a real destination, a realistic plan, and GPS-ready directions so you can actually get out the door.
Day Trip Anywhere is built and run by me, right here in Wixom, Michigan — with a little help from some pretty incredible AI tools. I know this corner of the country, I know how precious a free weekend is, and I built this for people exactly like me: people who want to make the most of their time without spending half of it planning.
